Iwaki Meisei University was founded by Meisei Gakuen, its parent school corporation. The University is located in Iwaki City, in the southernmost part of Tohoku District, from which we can look over the Pacific Ocean. The white-themed college buildings are in good harmony with the rich green vegetation in the campus. The university has awarded degrees to over 10,000 graduates since its foundation in 1987.
Based on computer technology, Iwaki Meisei University consists of three departments: College of Science and Engineering, College of Humanities, and Faculty of Pharmacy. In the College of Science and Engineering we strive to foster engineers who can contribute to establishing a sustainable society; in the College of Humanities, experts who can contribute to the development and security of local communities from the perspective of culture, society, and personal development; and in the Faculty of Pharmacy, highly qualified pharmacists with wide-ranging education and communication skills as well as the ability to identify and solve problems. Thus, based on all-round education, we aim to achieve our educational goal of fostering human resources who can contribute to the development of local communities.
To meet the requirements for improving the learning environment in science and technological fields, In Fiscal 2010, we have reorganized the College of Science and Engineering. In the new system, under the College of Science and Engineering, there is only one department (the Department of Science and Engineering), which consists of four courses. We strive to establish a basic structure for efficient education, develop an enhanced educational environment from the perspective of both hardware and software, and build up a detailed support system, thus aiming to improve the “quality” of education.
We believe that our mission lies in the contribution to society. We will strive to fulfill our mission as a “university that is open to the public,” and work toward the future as a university that exists together with local communities, as typified by libraries and learning centers that are widely used and open to the public, as well as such facilities as local exchange centers including psychological consultation centers and academic-industrial research centers.
Our features include enhanced career education aimed to help individual students fulfill their dreams. All the faculty members are ready to support them so that they can “fly ahead to the world” as “people dedicated to the world under the spirit of harmony,” as stated in the mission of Meisei Gakuen. Let us aim at becoming a bright star in the academic world.
